How To Live Like a Badass pt. 2 - External

Revealing The Ultimate Secret of How to Live The Best Life Ever

Now this is when it all gets damn exciting.

So, you've had the epiphany, you've begun to realise that you really are the shit, and now you are heading out into the big wide world like a sim with a bright green plumbob above their head; a little signifier that says I'm ready.

But how do you make life happen?

There's a certain running theme I've noticed about those who have risen from nothing to become influential and celebrated artists at the top of their games today. This is no Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian, I'm talking about the Ed Sheeran's, the Eminem's, the Lupita Nyong'o's, the Tina Fey's, the Richard Branson's.

These people have been to the darkest pits of despair and back, been penniless, homeless and hopeless... but never once did they ever think they weren't going to make it one day. Never did they stop trying.

And as much as I'd like to believe that was because they had fierce determination and an iron will, humankind is not particularly good at retaining these values in the face of overwhelming adversity – that and optimism are usually the first to go.

They didn't give up because they it was just not an option.

They didn't give up because it was a physical impossibility for them to believe that they weren't going to do it.

Their own natural levels of self-belief were so astronomical, that no matter what circumstance, society or life could throw at them, the one thing which remained permanently etched into their DNA was the knowledge that one day, somehow, they were going to make it happen.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not foolish enough to believe that just wanting something enough will make it happen. There's a heady combination of hard work, opportunity and ability which need to come in to play too.

But by tapping in to this organic center of personal self-belief, subconsciously altering the way that they thought about themselves and the world, they effectively became invincible against failure.

When you have this almost unfathomable blind faith and conviction in yourself and what you can do, to a level which operates outside the confines of your own free will, failure becomes the outcome which seems impossible to imagine, not success.

And as a result of this, I believe a part of your mind reveals itself - a subconscious receptor if you will.

Think of it like this, have you ever noticed how in these rags to riches tales - where a person goes from being a dire impoverished nobody to a gloriously successful millionaire - they all seem to contain a string of improbable events, a chain of sheer dumb luck and coincidence which seems to put them in the right place at the right time? Hell, that's why all these people have books and films based upon their lives.

But the fact is, because they are so uncommon, it's impossible for it truly to be coincidence.

These people didn't just get lucky.

They made lucky.

And that's because they so ardently believed that one day they were going to do something, that this subconscious receptor inside of them switched on and became aware of every single window of opportunity that arose, and relayed to the conscious mind to go out there and bloody well grab them.

There's a pretty good example of how just the smallest of things can temporarily ignite this little sensor in our minds, one that if we choose to, we can open for good and change our lives.

Louis says he gets it with other guys with beards. Greg says he gets it with skateboards. I get it when I wear a hat.

I could just be sitting on the tube, wearing my hat and minding my own business, then, while my conscious mind is preoccupied BAM, suddenly I'll glance down the carriage and I see someone else in a hat and at that moment that is literally the only thing that matters. And they're looking at me, and I'm looking at them and our eyes are locked in this super intense incommunicable glance of appreciation that could only ever be reserved for the elite kind that is hat-wearing folk, then I look away with a small internal smirk of that connection we just made, simply because that little sensor in my brain had been ticking away behind the scenes, permanently alert to the wonder that is another person in a hat.

And so to put that into relation, if you genuinely wholeheartedly believe, if you find yourself standing there with a whimsical smile and thinking 'I literally do not see how this could not work out.' then you will suddenly start to notice little things you never saw before. And in amongst these little daily realisations and noticings, are hidden sparkling gems of opportunity that are ripe for the grasping, and will push you forward incomprehensibly toward your goal, if you choose to seize them.

I always think of it as Lady fate and her sidekick Lady luck are desperate to show off how awesome the universe is, but they are not just going to reveal it to anybody. So once you open the doors of your mind and start creating positive ripples on their radar, their ears will prick up, they'll notice and they will come along and elicit you into their secret club, comprising of a constant string of extraordinary and improbable events.

In essence, prove you deserve to be gifted an awesome life, and an awesome life will be gifted to you.

The only way to become successful, is to truly believe that there's no way you won't.

The only way to open up the world of opportunity, is to first open your mind.

Change the way you think about the world, and the world will change for you.
